A blogger I follow posted the link to this video and it's a priceless tutorial on the difference between sympathy and empathy by the brilliant Brene Brown. We've been on the receiving end of both over the years and she explains the difference better than I could. If you're wondering how to care for someone who's in a difficult place, this may be a place to start.
Sara, this is so true. What good advice for everyone, since we will all be in these situations at some time.
ReplyDeleteHi Sara, I shared your very powerful YouTube Testimony on Twitter today. At BibleWords4Kids. I've been trying to track you down!!! As your story spoke to me so incredibly. We too have a daughter with Turner Syndrome. Elizabeth reminded me so much of our daughter. She is called Chloe and she's 11. She loves making up stories, singing, dancing & acting. And she has an amazing faith. I wondered whether Elizabeth & Chloe might be able to make contact with one another. Chloe, would so love to have a friend who understands Turner Syndrome & her faith too. So I felt prompted to make contact with you. My name is Corinne, I've been married to Justin for 19 years & we have an older daughter Charlie who is 13. We've been Christians from an early age. But the last five years, have been a tough journey. When illness struck me & has remained an ongoing battle. We are looking to God though, constantly & are finding though, this seems a very long season, He is faithful & can be depended on. If you would like to get in touch email is probably best corinneayres2@gmail.com or you can find me on Facebook Corinne Ayres.

Anyway, I'll leave it with you. But, I felt God was highlighting a connection of encouragement, maybe for us & our girls. As I haven't been able to stop thinking about your beautiful family all day (those here on earth & beautiful Eva in God's loving arms) You all touched my heart. So thank you. I pray God will continue to walk closely with you on your journey.
Your Sister in Christ, Corinne
